By far the biggest challenge for any best man is to bring the banter - whether that's taking the piss out of the groom on the stag do, helping him forget his nerves on the morning of the wedding or giving the guests a right ol' laugh with his speech.

When it comes to a royal wedding, we're guessing things have to be slightly more restrained. But that didn't stop Prince William from having a go.

An insider from the day told the Mirror that Wills 'nearly floored' guests with a prank on Harry at the wedding reception.

Apparently William decided to poke fun at a recent fall that Harry had, when he dropped from a ladder while changing a lightbulb.

As a reference to the incident, he tied a ladder to the back of a newlyweds' car, much the amusement of partygoers.

The insider said: "Harry and Meghan went about midnight, shattered and madly in love."

They added: "Apparently Harry fell off a ladder recently while changing a light bulb for Meghan and hurt his arm. So Wills tied a ladder to the back of the car, which nearly floored a few people."

Guess this is a good example of some of that restrained banter we were on about - though perhaps there was a fair bit of ammo against Harry that William wasn't allowed to bring up, leaving him to reference something that would be a little more, erm, palatable for Camilla and co.

His son, George, was up to no good as well, having been seen chatting his way down the aisle as he held onto Meghan's train.

Admittedly, it looked like a pretty long walk. Think I'd have needed to pass the time with a chinwag, too.

But the true hero of the day was definitely Bishop Michael Curry, who blew the socks off of the royals with his rousing speech.

He quoted from Martin Luther King Jr and told the crowd: "We must discover the power of love, the power, the redemptive power of love. And when we discover that we will be able to make of this old world a new world."

Wedding services can usually get a bit boring, but this guy made sure this one was anything but. The looks on the royals' faces were absolutely priceless, with some seen trying to hide the sniggers at how wonderfully un-British this element of the day was. Bravo.
