Disturbing CCTV footage showing a man stalking two women down a dark road has left residents 'horrified'.

The video shows the man stealthily creeping behind the women, intermittently crouching down and hiding behind cars along the way.

The unsettling incident is believed to have taken place at around 4.15am on Sunday 4 August in Levenshulme, Manchester.

A concerned resident shared the CCTV footage on Facebook, describing the man's behaviour as 'very worrying and predatory'.

The post read: "People of Levenshulme. This is what happened early hours of Sunday morning, 4-15 to be precise.

"This low life scum bag was stalking these two young girls on Greenway Avenue. Can anyone help to identify him.

"By the way the girls were picked up in a taxi and are safe. Our CCTV was out of action over the weekend. It was only brought to our attention after the incident. Have only viewed footage today after being informed by someone who witnessed the incident and asked us to check our CCTV.

"After checking and finding the footage we are posting now at earliest opportunity. Very worrying and predatory behaviour."

The man can be seen hiding behind cars as he follows the women.

An anonymous resident told the Metro that she believed the 'horrible' incident had not been reported to police.

She said: "To be taking on two adult females like that, you have to be incredibly reckless and dangerous. It's so brazen. Having somebody like that in the neighbourhood is horrible for anyone living in the Levenshulme area. It's a horrifying thought that there's a predator around."

Other locals expressed their disgust, commenting on the video on Facebook.

One person said: "This is terrifying. I'm so glad them girls got home safe. The sick f*** stalking them, well I hope he is caught. Not that anything will be done. In my world he wouldn't be walking this world ever again."

Another added: "Omg he needs to be caught imagine if it had been a girl on her own it so scary please be careful going home ladies until they catch this low life."

The women reportedly got in a taxi shortly after.

However, others encouraged people in the community not to leap to conclusions.

One person said: "Has anyone spoken to the lad? Or the girls? Does he know them? Was he planning on jumping out on two girls he knows and making them jump out of their skin as a joke?? Does anyone know the facts behind this video??

"People can take things right out of context and put their own twist on things."
