Shocking Footage Shows Bentley Driver Plough Into Pensioners Car

This is the shocking moment a Bentley driver smashed into a pensioner's car at high speed before fleeing the scene on foot.

Rightly or wrongly, Bentley drivers already have a bit of a reputation for being - how can we put it diplomatically? - complete arseholes, and this particular bloke certainly wasn't doing anything to dampen the stereotype.

Forty-six-year-old Richard Plum was driving his motor at 85mph on a quiet village road when he went skidding into a kerb and hit the oncoming car.

The frightening footage was caught on 74-year-old Tim Edwards' dashcam and shows the luxury Bentley Continental come speeding towards the vehicle before careering into it and sending the pair flying.

Plum fled the scene of the collision - in what was supposed to be a 20mph zone - but was tracked down by police from blood left on his airbag.

Edwards' Ford span 360 degrees into a wall, in a little road in Old Amersham in the Chiltern Hills, but miraculously the pensioner escaped without a scratch.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Edwards said: "I pulled out when the road looked clear and all of a sudden, this Bentley came out of nowhere.

"I remember thinking 'he's driving fast' and a couple of seconds later he crashed into me.

"There was no time to be frightened or anything like that, it was over in a flash."

Plum pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and failing to stop after a road accident and was jailed for 14 months with a driving ban of four years and seven months.

"I was in a pretty sturdy car which took the impact well, otherwise it could've been a lot worse," added Edwards.

"In fact the other driver was more seriously injured, he'd left blood all over his airbag. He climbed out of the driver's side window, called a friend who arrived a few minutes later in another car and they drove off.

"I didn't say anything to him and he didn't say anything to me. These modern cars are able to contact emergency services automatically on impact and an ambulance arrived within five minutes followed by a fire engine and police.

"I've driven past the accident spot several times since. It hasn't really had too much of an effect on me, luckily. Although I think the sentence handed out was far too lenient."

Plum admitted the charges at Wycombe Magistrates Court on October 16 and was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court in January.
