Gordon Ramsay Pledges £26,200 If His Kids Beat His Marathon Time

All of the money will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital, so let's hope they can do it

Gordon Ramsay has promised to pay his kids a huge amount of money if they can beat his London Marathon time.

Ramsay has completed the course around central London on a few occasions now, and he has laid down the challenge to his twin children Jack and Holly Ramsay to see if they can better his time.

The two teenagers are running the marathon for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital - a specialist hospital in London for complex children's illnesses and research into diseases.

The two twins turned 18 recently and Jack went onto Instagram to try to drive his donations up while simultaneously having a little dig at his sister - a bit of healthy sibling rivalry always makes things more interesting, right?

He said: "Just two more days until Holly and I take on the London Marathon," before adding: "Best of luck @hollyramsayy, I'm coming for you!"

Well, they certainly got some family rivalry going. A few posts from the elder Ramsay weighed in with his challenge.

Gordon posted: "Jack dads time to beat is 3hr 30 mins come on big boy you can do this £26,200 if you do this !!!! I know you can. I'm so proud of you both #smarttwins xxxx"

I think we can all agree £26,200 is a pretty sizable donation. In fact, it's £1,000 for every mile, which is bloody good going.

Suppose Gordon Ramsay can probably afford it but it's still a good incentive.

He also posted on his own account to try to drum up more support for his kids. Heart-warming stuff, eh?

He said: "Not long to go kiddos ! So proud of you both running the #londonmarathon for @greatormondst. Head to the link in my bio to support them Gx #teamramsay #london"

The only problem is that the time Gordon set - while he was well into his 40s, it is worth mentioning - is really fast.

The world record is around two hours, and for a 40-odd year old man to be running anything under four hours means they must have to be in some shape.

We're going to have to wait to find out whether the kids actually managed to get anywhere near their father - watch this space.

Meanwhile, Gordon has caused a bit of a stir this week by claiming that he has turned vegan.

Obviously, we're not sure whether he has really done this or not, but he did put out a social media post that said: "Going to give this vegan thing a try ... Yes guys you heard that right".
