Usually as the end of term swings round, parents will pop out to the shops to pick out a small gift for the teacher that's educated their darling child all year - a nice bunch of flowers, a mug that says 'Best Teacher EVER!!!' or a box of Milk Tray, perhaps.

Teachers, too, are often expected to dish out little trinkets to thank their class for a year of absolutely top-notch learning.

However, what if you don't want to give out sweets to a 28-strong classroom of complete terrors? What if the end of the school year isn't the time for such niceties?

Well, if you're not the type of person that likes to give heartfelt cards with gushing poems printed inside (hey, I'm totally with you), you can go for something a little more blunt - like these creations from Yorkshire-based greeting card and gift company Love Layla.

Parents can choose a card that literally screams ''THANK F*** MY KID DOESN't HAVE YOU AS THEIR TEACHER NEXT YEAR', while teachers can go for a similar sentiment with one that says 'THANK F*** I DON'T HAVE TO TEACH YOUR KID NEXT YEAR!'

The sentiment can go either way.

Other messages include 'Nursery teacher: the only job you find yourself saying don't lick that' and 'As my child's teacher, I completely understand why you need so many holidays'.

Love Layla has become known for its slightly, ahem, off-the-wall creations, with prices starting at £3.75.

Mind you, apparently not everyone has seen the funny side of the designs.

Stacey Dennis, who runs Love Layla, has claimed the new range hasn't been quite such a hit with some teachers.

"We've had lots of messages from teachers on social media who think that our products are insulting and rude towards them," she said.

"We believe they are great fun - as do the parents who have nearly cleaned us out of our stock."

Last October, one of Love Layla's anniversary cards was criticised by parents on Mumsnet as it featured the slogan 'Up the bum, no harm done'.

But Stacey was about as concerned then as she is now.

"We're used to upsetting some people with some of our range which despite sometimes being risque is designed to be a laugh and thoroughly good-natured," she continued.

"I would say that all those outstanding, enthusiastic teachers out there have nothing to worry about but those who may be less than top of the class should prepare themselves!

"As our thanks teacher range has proved so popular, we're frantically printing as much as we can before schools out.

"Whatever teachers receive as terms draws to a close, I'm sure six weeks holidays will help them get over it if they've been offended in any way."
