This Man's Attempt At A 'Crash For Cash' Insurance Scam Backfires

The whole thing was caught on a dashcam

A motorist has caught, what is probably, the worst attempt at carrying out insurance fraud on her dashcam.

In the clip, the man with a moped can be seen walking it out on to the road before stopping abruptly.

Unfortunately for him the woman driving the car is a conscientious driver and slows right down, but that's not what the guy on the bike wants, so he pulls the moped backwards until it connects with the car and then lashes himself onto the bonnet.

Is he going for insurance money or an Oscar? Because either way, it's a solid no.

As the woman steps out he car to confront the man - who is joined by a pal at his point - she can be heard saying: "What the hell? You idiot!" Indeed.

The men then try and have a go at the woman for hitting the man on the bike, which is when she drops the bombshell that she's got a dashcam and the whole thing has been caught on camera.

"I've got a camera," she says. "Do you understand you are on video, you complete idiot?"

Realising their scam has been rumbled, the pair run off.

Sadly, this type of scam is nothing new. In April this year, a dashcam caught the moment a cyclist pretended to be hit by a car and then lay on the floor.

In the footage, which was filmed on the A52, Elizabeth Aspey is driving her car and a man on a bike is riding along ahead of them. All of a sudden, he stops, hops off his bike and lies down on the floor.

However, when the passenger in the car tells him he's being filmed on a dashcam, the man makes an almost biblical recovery and is back on his feet and shouting abuse in no time.

Elizabeth Aspey, who was driving the car, told Newsflare: "We were on our way home from Nottingham to Stoke at about 8.30pm, I think. I thought he was just being an idiot in the middle of the road with his bike so I slowed down but then he threw himself on the floor. We had seen a similar video before so I think we both knew what was going on.

"It was just so bizarre because I just felt like things like this don't happen to us. I just count myself lucky that I wasn't alone and that I had the dashcam to film it all."
