Ah the Internet, she never fails to produce the goods.

As singer Ed Sheeran continues to dominate the charts with his new album - BBC Radio 1's Greg James thought he'd have a bit of fun.

The joke was paying tribute to one of the biggest PR fails of this century when Susan Boyle posted on Twitter saying she was having an exclusive album listening party.

The original tweet has since been deleted but luckily the treasure trove that is the Internet made sure it didn't die.

Naturally #sheeranalbumparty started trending and freaked out a few people.

Greg James was very pleased with himself and posted this message to his fans...

Sheeran's been promoting his new album ÷, which has recently broke seven records during its first week in the charts.

÷ broke first-day stream records on Spotify after 56,727,861 streams on the day of its release (3rd March) alone.

As if that was not enough for the British singer-songwriting lad, Ed went on to smash one-day stream records as well, with 'Shape of You' getting more than 10 million streams last Friday.

YouTube has also announced that the singer's album has already managed more than one billion views on the site.

And Ed told OfficialCharts.com: "Wow! What a phenomenal week. To every person who's bought the album - thank you. I'm buzzing!"

If that's not enough he's appearing on the latest season of Game of Thrones, which premieres in July.

There's also rumours circulating he might perform at the 2017 Glastonbury music festival.

Ed has announced he's playing a show in London the day before the festival to celebrate the O2's 10th birthday, too.

The celebrations will include Sheeran, alt-J, Jamiroquai (the greatest band ever) and Celine Dion.
