Woman Makes All-Time Worst Attempt To Hide From Police

Hide and Seek is a game usually played by kids. Adults tend to realise that, after a certain level of size has been reached, it becomes increasingly difficult to hide in a domestic setting.

One Derbyshire woman, however, is keeping the dream alive. Or at least, she ran out of better ideas and decided that a spot of hide and seek was the best way to avoid the cops when they came to her house looking for her.

Can you spot her in the below photograph? Be warned, it's tricky - you may feel the naked eye isn't up to the task, but trust us, she's hidden in there somewhere:

The woman was due to turn up at court on Friday and failed to appear, having told officers: "I'll hand myself in on Monday."

Of course, that isn't really how court works. When she failed to show, the police in Alfreton, Derbyshire, turned up at her home.

Now, were you in her shoes, you might be thinking the next course of action would be simple enough: just go to court.

And even if you didn't fancy that option too much, you might have gone somewhere other than your own home while on the lam, as the police tend to know where you live in such circumstances and thus make it their first port of call when they come a-knocking.

And it goes without saying that, when the rozzers do make it inside, you probably need to have a better hiding place than an upside-down washing basket. At least have the decency to squeeze under the bed or go hide in the shed.

Once police had unravelled the tricky riddle of where she could possibly be, the woman - naturally - was duly arrested. Alfreton cops were pretty amused by the whole affair and tweeted: "Female located and arrested for failing to appear at court.

"It's all well and good saying 'I'll hand myself in on Monday' - you should have turned up last week when you were told to!!! She even tried to hide when we saw her but she was far from good at hide and seek #OffToCourt."

The tweet was accompanied by with a photo of the woman in her ingenious hiding place.

The local public were quick to come up with suggestions. "I would have hid in the shower," wrote one person on Twitter.

And it didn't take long for the wags of Alfreton to chime in: "She wanted for Laundering money?" tweeted one japester, while another described her as a 'basket case'.

Well, almost everyone.
