Drug Suspect Refusing To Poo Is Freed From Jail And Taken To Hospital

Police have dropped the charge of possession of Class A drugs and allowed him to go to hospital, but he's not out of the woods yet

Lamarr Chambers has captured the attention of people around the world for his incredible self-control. Let's be clear, the 24-year-old is currently a suspect in a police investigation; but the fact he spent nearly 50 days refusing to go to the bathroom is nothing short of amazing.

He was pulled over by police in mid-January and cops believed he had swallowed Class A drugs. They arrested him and thought he'd spend a few hours, maybe a day, in custody before nature would take its course.

But lo and behold, he managed to last a whopping 47 days in a prison cell without any bowel movements

Police have now changed their game plan: dropping the charge of possession of Class A drugs and releasing him from custody. The moment that happened though, cops rearrested Chambers for supply, before allowing him to go to hospital for treatment.

Deputy Chief Constable BJ Harrington said: "On the basis of all the medical evidence in this case it is most appropriate, both in the interests of Mr Chambers and of justice, to ensure he receives the hospital treatment he needs

"Where detainees are suspected of ingesting or concealing drugs inside their body, we must balance overseeing their welfare and ensuring that all evidence is captured to ensure the best possible chance of prosecution."

There's no word on how whatever was contained inside his body would be extracted, but a doctor told us that it wouldn't be pleasant if it was the normal way.

Consultant gastroenterologist Anton Emmanuel, from the British Society of Gastroenterology, told LADbible: "What comes out will be very hard, woody, like bits of gravel so it will be painful."

There were concerns that if he swallowed a bag of drugs, they could rupture inside his bowels and cause untold damage to his body.

Dr Emmanuel added: "These very hard stools could start banging against the bag or whatever its in and cause it to tear. Whilst your bowel isn't very permeable, it could absorb some of those things."

Police had to go to court a whopping seven times to request an extention of Chambers' custody. The suspect's lawyer, at one point, told the magistrate that he would rather die in jail rather than pass whatever was in his body.

Thankfully it hasn't come to that and we'll have to wait and see whether police confirm what was found.
