People Are Calling The Police Because KFC Is Out Of Chicken

So, the KFC crisis has reached day three. It's been three whole days since problems with a new delivery partner left KFC restaurants up and down the country without chicken.

Some signs of recovery are starting to show - some of the restaurants are back open, but it's still a wasteland out there.

Hundreds of people have been made to get their chicken pieces from elsewhere or - god forbid - cook their own food.

Most of us are holding up OK I think, but there are some people who have simply had enough. No matter how disappointed you are not to be tucking into a Zinger Tower Burger, it's not a matter for the emergency services.

Despite that, people have been calling the police to report that their local KFC is not open.

Jesus Christ guys, other chicken shops are available.

Tower Hamlets Metropolitan Police Service was actually forced to tweet earlier to ask people to stop calling up.

They said:

They shouldn't have to say that, but they did. This country.

Good news is on the way though - they're getting to the bottom of it (or so they say). A KFC spokesperson today said: "We anticipate the number of closures will reduce today and over the coming days as our teams work flat out all hours to clear the backlog.

"Each day more deliveries are being made, however, we expect the disruption to some restaurants to continue over the remainder of the week, meaning some will be closed and others operating with a reduced menu or shortened hours."

DHL only took over the contract to deliver the chicken very recently and have been caught out by what they are calling 'operational issues' - which is a term that in this case means that they didn't realise how much the people of Britain depend on their Boneless Banquet.

A DHL statement said: "Due to operational issues a number of deliveries in recent days have been incomplete or delayed.

"We are working with our partners to rectify the situation as a priority and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused."

This is a very different tone to the statement that they released when they won the contract.

At that time they said: "DHL is also committed to setting a new industry benchmark by delivering outstanding service to all KFC's restaurants and its consumers."

For their part, KFC have released a statement about why this has happened - apparently it's for our own good.

They said: "We won't compromise on quality, so no deliveries has meant some of our restaurants are closed, others are operating a limited menu or shortened hours."

This will end one day. Until then, stay strong and for God's sake don't call the police.
