Man Shows His Love For High Street Supermarket With M&S Tattoo

It's not just any tattoo...

We all have our favourite supermarket, usually it's not so much a choice as a matter of which one you can afford.

Whether you're a thrifty shopper and frequent Aldi or earning the big bucks and get your bits from Booths, it all comes out of the same place at the end of the day. Amirite?

Well not for one man, who took his love for one high street retailer that little bit further when he had the Marks and Spencer logo tattooed on his forearm.

Chris says he never feels judged when shopping at M&S.

Chris Coates, 43, from Southend-on-Sea, Essex, had 'M&S EST.1884' inked on his left arm because he can't get enough of the high-end brand.

The dad said: "I love M&S. I've been shopping there for about 15 years. They've always had fantastic customer service. I also love their food.

"I used to be a chef and the quality of the meat and everything in brilliant."

The father-of-four is no stranger to tattoos - with 19 across his body - but said he wanted to get the supermarket's logo emblazoned across his arm because he never feels judged when shopping there.

He said: "I'm tall, quite stocky and covered in tattoos. In certain shops I get stereotyped and followed around as if I'm going to steal something.

"M&S aren't like that - the staff are always friendly. They way they treat me, I always feel special."

Chris lives with is partner Marie Davies, 36, and their children Ivan, four, Dominic, eight, Vinni, 13, and Cheyenne, 15.

Chris says people in his town have been positive about his new ink.

He got the tattoo done at Urban Ink in the seaside town on Tuesday, and says it cost him £60 and took around 45 minutes to complete.

The web designer said: "I wanted another one and I thought it would be really good. I love everything about M&S."

His right arm is mainly covered with skulls, but he says he is left arm is reserved for his favourite bands, films, dates of birth of kids - and now of course, M&S.

It joins an elite club which includes cartoon character Boss Baby, from the 2017 hit Dreamworks film of the same name.

He also has a jigsaw tattoo, which symbolises autism as two of his children are autistic.

Chris says his new ink has gone down a storm with people in his town.

He said: "There's a really big security guard who works in M&S in Southend. I went in there to get my lunch and he absolutely loved it.

"Two other staff members think it's taking customer loyalty to the next level. My wife thinks I'm mad."

A spokesman for the retailer said: "Full marks to Chris for his customer loyalty. This Christmas, we're celebrating our #MyMarksFaves and Chris is certainly one of them.

"We'll be marking his new tattoo with a treat next time he comes into the store."
