The divide between London and just about everywhere else in the UK is growing rapidly and shows little sign of slowing down.
Nowhere has this been more evident than in housing, where rents and purchase prices continue to skyrocket while, in the rest of the country, they wither on the vine.
That trend has been put into stark contrast by frankly ridiculous statistic released by a Welsh estate agents: that you can buy an entire village in Wales for the price of a luxury London flat.

That's right: a village with more than 10 houses for the price of just one moderately sized home in central London.
Estate agency Daffyd Hardy has listed the entire village of Aberllefenni for £1.25 million ($1.66m) on their website.
It's a strong proposition if you happen to have £1,250,000 lying around: it's surrounded by the world famous, scenic Snowdonia National Park, less than 20 miles from the West Wales coastline and close to amenities in the nearest town, Machynlleth.

The estate agent's description boasts of "16 tenanted houses and agricultural land sold as a package as a good investment with a steady rental income."
They're even offering you the opportunity to make money back off it, claiming that the property is "priced realistically for quick sale thus offering an excellent investment opportunity providing income as well as the possibility of increased property value growth."
It works out at about £28,000 ($37,000) per home - a significant discount on the price when it was first listed back in 2016 for £1.5m ($1.99m).

To put it into contrast, here are several properties in London that are going for the same price.
A one bedroom flat in One Blackfriars, aka The Vase, a skyscraper in central London, will see you back £1,250,000 - and while it doesn't boast a national within easy reach, it is pretty close to the city of London, so I guess there's that.
Or, if £1.25 million is a bit much, there's a flat in Kensington that is a veritable snip at £1.2m ($1.6m) - the only problem is that there's only one room: it's a studio apartment.
The choice is yours, really.
