Australian Man Seen Riding Jet Ski Past McDonald's In Flash Floods

Some have praised him as a legend while others have called him a boofhead.

As flash floods wreak havoc across Australia, one man decided to use the moment to rev up his jet ski.

Parts of the country have been hit by the worst flooding in decades, with tens of thousands of people left without power. Some have been evacuated to higher ground and debris has been strewn across homes.

But that didn't stop this guy from having a bit of fun in the water.

People have joked that the guy in question was defying the wet conditions to head to the fast food giant - one person on Reddit captioned the video: "When it's flash flooding outside but ya desperate for some Macca's."

Meanwhile, another person on Twitter posted a video filmed from inside the restaurant, captioned: "Son's friend posted this from inside McDonald's (she was working there as it flooded) - that guy on the jet ski tried to go through the drive-through to get a drink, lol."

For months, the country has been ravaged by devastating bushfires, however, heavy rain over the past couple of days has extinguished a third of the fires in New South Wales.

The guy's jet skiing antics have divided opinion.

In some areas, the torrential rain has resulted in flash flooding, as the drought conditions have caused the soil to become very dry and compact, meaning rainfall is less easily absorbed.

Tuggerah, in the Central Coast, has been so badly affected by floods that the roads have become unusable - unless you have a jet ski, that is.

Demonstrating as much, the man in the clip does a 360 and sprays water through the air, and can be seen having a good giggle about his antics. However, the response in the comments was somewhat divided.

On the one hand, one person said: "I'd be p***ed if the wake from his Jet-ski pushed water into my car/business/house."

Another added: "What a d***head."

Yet others were more positive, as one person wrote: "What an absolute icon."

Another commented: "This is amazing."

Can't please 'em all, eh?

But one man who definitely has a 'what a d***head' interpretation of the man's shenanigans is New South Wales Emergency Services Minister David Elliott, who has slammed the jet skier's 'boofhead behaviour'.

According to ABC, Mr Elliott said: "That says to me the community is just not taking seriously some of the warnings that have been issued.

"With this sort of boofhead behaviour, we're not going to tolerate it as far as the police are concerned.

"I would appeal to the community to be very conscious of the fact that drains, rivers and any number of pieces of infrastructure will be challenged over the course of this flood activity and, of course, that's been made even worse by the king tides."
