Hard Rock To Open Hotel Shaped Like A Guitar - Well, Half Of One

Plans to build a hotel in Florida that's shaped like like the bottom half of a guitar have been unveiled by Hard Rock Hotels

This is the stuff that rock'n'roll dreams are made of. Literally. For where is there a better place to lay your head and dream about headlining Wembley Arena than in a hotel shaped like a guitar?

That's what the iconic Hard Rock Hotel brand a planning to build in Hollywood, Florida, according to plans that have finally been revealed for the project, in a ceremony filled with confetti and fireworks.

Designed to look like two back-to-back guitars - though without most of the neck - the structure will measure an impressive 450 feet high and feature a 41,000 square-foot spa complex for guests.

James F Allen, CEO of Seminole Gaming and Chairman of Hard Rock International is the visionary behind the hotel, which - of course - will double up as a flash casino.

"We are talking about a building that is actually shaped like a guitar," Allen explained at a preview event. "We think the architectural design in itself creates an amazing attraction."

The campaign to build this unique structure apparently began in 2007, but now, a decade later, preparations are finally underway to make it a reality.

"There is truly, with zero exaggeration, nothing like it in the world," Allen continued.

The hotel, which will cost a staggering $1.5 billion (£1.1bn), is due to open in 2019 and will expand the existing Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, which is already built on the site.

The expansion will double both the number of guest rooms and the gambling space at the casino, which currently has 3,267 slot machines and 178 table games.

And in addition to the spa, hotel guests will be able to bask in a brand new 10-acre swimming pool when the project is complete. Ten acres is an incredible amount of space, so it's no surprise to learn that the ginormous pool area will feature waterfalls, private cabanas and an incredibly rock'n'roll butler service.

What we really want to know, though, is what memorabilia will be on display? Kurt Cobain's shoes? Prince's guitar? David Bowie's eyes? Probably none of those things, but we can't wait to find out.
