So, here's a weird story for you. Footballer Jon Parkin has taken to Twitter to deny that a photo of some poo he shared was, in fact, his own excrement. See? I told you it was weird.

The striker shared a screenshot of an email he had been sent regarding his P45 after he was released from non-league side York City, writing alongside it: "After a bit of help. Does anyone know where I need to go to sign-on in Barnsley?"

Footballer Jon Parkin shared this tweet of his P45 notice.

No problems there, just a newly unemployed footballer making a joke on Twitter, right?

Except he also accidentally shared a photo of a rather full-looking toilet, which was in his camera roll at the bottom. How he missed it before he hit send, I don't know, but it wasn't missed by others who quickly pointed out the poop pic. Helpful of them.

Eagle-eyed social media users spotted this on his camera roll.

One wrote: "Oh man, that's a triple flusher at minimum."

Others showed concern, urging him to 'eat more fibre'.

Meanwhile another person seemed almost in awe of the man for his suspected dump, writing: "Some jobby big guy."

Other comments included: "This needs to go viral." Well, mission accomplished, it's been liked more than 2,000 times and attracted hundreds of comments.

Responding to the posts, Parkin said: "Unfortunately I have to confirm that 'the s***e' isn't mine.

"I would love to take full credit for it but unfortunately I got it in a group chat.

"Mine are more like rabbit droppings." Lovely, thanks for clearing that one up, pal.

The footballer shared this response.

When someone replied to tell him they'd have been proud of it, he responded: "So would I, but I can't take credit for someone else's good work." Which is a fair point well made.

In fairness to Parkin, he took the whole situation in his stride. Responding to the official Paddy Power account when it pointed out his mistake, he joked that he was "so glad that I had deleted my new latex modelling photos... now that could have got a bit sticky."

Oh, and if you reckon Parkin is the type of fella to delete an embarrassing tweet, well you're dead wrong, because it's still there and eagle-eyed people are still pointing it out. Does he care? He does not. In fact, you could say he doesn't give a... nah, we'll leave that joke, too obvious.
