Doctors Warning People Not To Take Part In 'Condom Challenge'

The 'challenge' poses a serious choking risk

There's another bizarre potentially deadly craze sweeping the Internet and this one might even be more ridiculous than the infamous Tide Pod challenge.

The condom challenge sees idiots people snorting condoms through their noses then pulling out of their mouths. Why? I do not know. But needless to say, inhaling rubber is never a smart idea and doctors are warning people about the potential dangers.

Stephen Enriquez, a state education specialist, told KABB: "These days our teens are doing everything for likes, views and subscribers.

"As graphic as it is, we have to show parents because teens are going online looking for challenges and recreating them."

It goes without saying that this looks utterly ridiculous and is pretty gross, and now health experts are warning people that taking part in the 'challenge' poses a serious choking risk, as it could get caught and block a person's airway leaving them unable to breath.

As well as that, the lubricant that covers the rubber can cause irritation and could potentially set off an allergic reaction.

Bruce Y Lee, an associated professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, wrote in an article for Forbes: "Even if you manage to successfully pull the condom out through your mouth, inhaling a condom up your nose would be very uncomfortable and potentially quite painful.

"Would it really be worth all that just to get more likes and views?"

He also details a case of a woman who accidentally swallowed a condom during oral sex and ended up with appendicitis because a fragment of it somehow become stuck in her appendix.

Physician Dr. Joe Kosterich added: "Although it is highly unlikely to be fatal it could trigger a coughing fit in some."

He added that if it were to get stuck, it would make for a pretty embarrassing trip to A&E.

God, imaging spending seven or eight years training to be a doctor to have to go on telly to tell people to not inhale condoms. I really feel for this fella.

People snorting condoms on YouTube is, sadly, nothing new with some videos dating a few years, however, it's gaining popularity again.
