Donald Trump has never really struggled in making people feel awkward, but you might have hoped that the one person he might not publically shame would be his wife.
Melania Trump, on the other hand, has had to put up with more than her fair share of faux pas from her husband, though few of them will have been as directly embarrassing as the one that occurred last night at a military facility close to the US capital, Washington D.C.
Melania was doing her usual schtick, introducing her husband to a crowd of khaki-clad soldiers. As she invited the president onto the stage, however, they shared a handshake that went on way too long and ended in the Donald pushing his wife of many years from the rostrum.

It was as if they'd never met before, or even, that he didn't know who she was. The handshake was businesslike at best before Donald gave the impression that he remembered half way through that he was shaking hands with, er, his wife, and went for a more forceful effort that only resulting in him shunting her from the stage.
Twitter understandably exploded that the latest display of tiny-handed failure from the Donald. Some focused on the unusual act of shaking hands with his long-time spouse at all - "I don't think I've ever shaken my husband's hand before in my life," wrote one Twitter user - while others concentrated on their coldness to each other, posting "So awkward. Melania knows where the bodies are buried. Run Melania Run."

A third added: "Trump, after shaking her hand as if she were a stranger, practically shoves Melania from the podium. Can't imagine what goes on in private."
Model Chrissy Teigan weighed in on the incident, tweeting "This is so f****** weird but here comes 1,000 tweets telling me 'it isn't weird irrelevant libtard'."
We're pretty sure that the way that Donald Trump shakes his wife's hand is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of his presidency, but it is weird.

On more regular business, President Trump went on to deliver a speech on foreign policy, saying: "America and our allies will never be intimidated. We will defend our people, our nations, our civilisation, from all who dare to threaten our way of life."
"This includes the regime of North Korea which has once again shown it's utter contempt for its neighbours and for the entire world community."
Sure, but how does Kim Jong Un shake his wife's hand?
