Group chats are dangerous things. One false move and you could be sending something you really shouldn't to someone you really shouldn't. And this is a lesson TikToker Riley learned the hard way when she accidentally sent an x-rated message to a family group chat.

The topic of discussion was Riley's aunt and the fact her dog was seriously unwell.

As you can imagine, the general themes were well-wishes and condolences to said aunt, who was obviously distraught at the prospect of losing her furry friend.

However, Riley took a different approach, posting a photo of a joke, which read: "Sometimes you eat the a**. Other days, the a** eats you."

Ahem.

Her follow up read: "OMG. WRONG CHAT. Wow, I'm so sorry."

Sadly for Riley, she realised too late the error of her ways, and was unable to delete the post before her nearest and dearest spotted it.

And in her effort to rid the group of her smut, she had to explain to her family how to manually delete the message from their phones.

But in doing so, she shared screenshots of how to do it, meaning the dirty joke kept on reappearing.

Eventually, one participant asked: "How do I turn off notifications for a group chat that's out of control?"

Sharing the video detailing the mishap to her TikTok account, Riley captioned it: "That one time my aunt made a family group chat to keep everyone updated on her dying dog and I accidentally sent this."

The video has since been viewed over 480,000 times, with hundreds piling into the comments to share their utter disbelief at the shambles.

One user said: "The fact that the screenshots just made it keep showing up was so funny to me."

Echoing this, another quipped: "I think the funniest part was you having to screenshot walk them through deleting it."

"Why do they want to delete it so bad?" asked a third.

While another added: "They're so dramatic, bye."

But Riley isn't alone. Earlier this year, a woman sent videos of her doing 'unspeakable' things with her partner to her mum, after Google Photos turned out to be a little too technologically advanced.

So yeah, it could have been worse.
