Ghost hunters have captured what appears to be a shadowy figure stood beside a noose at an abandoned mental asylum. Creepy, eh?

Spirit Walkers - the group who caught the footage - say they recently visited the spooky Pool Parc asylum in Ruthin, North Wales, where they also recorded 'screaming' and 'growling' sounds.

Beth Hopper, who runs the group, said the team didn't notice the mysterious figure until they looked back on the footage taken at the 200-year-old building.

The team of six hunters headed to the deserted area armed with a bunch of specialist equipment to try and find out once and for all if it was haunted. Rather them than me.

Talking about the weird phenomenon, Beth said: "We were filming through a broken window and I just can't explain the growling sound I heard on the film when I got back to the car.

"It's about one minute and five seconds into the footage. I thought: 'What the hell is that?'

"I also got those screams on the electronic voice phenomena. It was quite disturbing. People have said to me they can hear the sound of torture.

"If you picture the mental asylum and what might've happened there, that might explain it. It is just a horrible sound.

"I've been there several times and have heard voices and footsteps. One girl said she felt a nurse was standing right in front of her in the dark.

"We'd also heard reports of an ex-patient there who thinks he's a Roman soldier and who marches up and down the corridor and throws stones at people.

"I was glad to get out of there in the end! But then when we did we saw a noose hanging from a window that we hadn't spotted with our torches before we went in.

"It wasn't until I lightened the picture later that we saw what could be a figure in the window. It was pretty creepy.

"The spirits could be trying to send a signal of the pain they went through there. My team say spirits are drawn to me because of my bubbly personality.

"They use our energy so maybe they like me for that. The spirits say on Ouija boards that they like me and I'm like a mother to them."

Beth decided to set up the Spirit Walkers four months ago and the official Facebook page has already racked up 800 followers.

The team head out to various 'haunted' sites with night-vision cameras, EVP (electronic voice phenomena) devices and more old-school ghost hunting gear such as Ouija boards.

Beth says they always ensure they bring white sage along with them to 'cleanse' an area of negative energy.

"Some teams claim every piece of footage they get is paranormal but we're not like that," Beth said.

"We're not trying to fool people but there are some things we've experienced that have been unexplainable.

"I'd always say to people that unless they come with us and experience it for themselves then they can't tell me it's not real."
