Woman Has To Make Trip To A&E After Plastic Fangs Become Stuck

She was left in 'excruciating pain' as they tightened around her teeth and wouldn't come off

A woman who got into the Halloween spirit a little early ended up going through a genuine nightmare after her plastic fangs became stuck in her mouth. This is a uniquely October problem, isn't it?

Anna Tew, from Alabama, spent $3 (£2.35) on some fangs with glue to complete her creepy, zombie look last weekend, but she was left in 'excruciating pain' and had to make a 2am trip to the emergency room after they become stuck.

Speaking to WKRG, she said: "I was trying to remove them then because they were just tight. It went on and on and I was trying to get them out, and after it was over with, I tried until it was like 2 o'clock this morning.

"They wouldn't budge. I even took a pair of wire clippers and cut the tips off of those."

Well, that actually does sound like something from a horror film, doesn't it?

So, she went off to A&E to try and find an emergency dentist who could help her out - thankfully Dr John Murphy was able to step up and get the teeth off.

But there was still one more Halloween scare in store for Anna.

"He talked about drilling," she told the news outlet.

"They had a saw, talked about taking [them] off in sections, and they couldn't numb it because they were scared they would actually pull my teeth out." Not ideal.

She added: "So he went in and picked and pulled and I squealed like a baby and they got them out."

Dentist Dr John explained: "Just the natural state of your teeth, and your gums can sometimes cause something to adhered and get stuck."

Anna has since said that she will never use fake fangs again, so lesson learnt.

But lesson learnt wasn't the case for Ruby Riches from New Zealand who, bizarrely, ended up in a similar situation after having a go at making her own fangs only to get them stuck.

Ruby went down the DIY-route to create a new set of spooky nashers for herself, but opted for thermoplastic, which set, stuck like shit and refused to budge.

After attempting to remove them with spoons and a hot cup of tea - 'it burnt my mouth, but didn't soften it enough' - our gal Ruby realised a trip to the dentist was in order.

She told Stuff: "I was sitting there freaking out thinking - is this going to permanently disfigure me in some way?"

Fortunately, her dentist, Dr Leo Panzic, was able to remove them using drills, although it was, according to Ruby, 'extremely painful'.

But did this put Ruby off ever trying again? It did not. She revealed that as she was leaving the surgery, she asked Dr Panzic the 'best way' to make fangs...unsurprisingly, he told her in no uncertain terms, that she shouldn't try it again.
