Have you managed to see Avengers: Endgame yet? The culmination of 11 years of Marvel Cinematic Universe came out in the UK yesterday and hits screens in the USA today.

Already it looks to be having a pretty profound effect on audiences around the world. According to reports, a woman in Ningbo, China, had to be hospitalised because she was crying uncontrollably.

Wow. We've all got a bit emotional at a film - the ending to Muppet Treasure Island kills me every single time - but very, very few of us have ever been taken to hospital for being in such of a state, surely?

Apparently - and no spoilers here, don't worry - the young woman, who is reportedly called Xiaoli was in hysterics by the dramatic conclusion of the film.

That must have also put something of a dampener on everyone else's enjoyment of the film.

So distraught was she that she began to hyperventilate and had difficulty breathing. According to The Shanghaiist, she had numb hands and feet and couldn't even stretch out her fingers properly.

Not sure whether that is a particular symptom of anything, really, but then again, I'm not a medical professional.

She was eventually taken off to hospital and treated for her ailments. On top of that, they gave her some oxygen to help regulate and normalise her breathing.

China News reports that one of the emergency doctors at the Mingzhou Hospital of Zhejiang University, a doctor called Yuan Liyan, said: "I saw that the patient had been breathing heavily, and according to the description from her peers, we thought that her crying had caused hyperventilation.

"We immediately gave her oxygen and relaxed her emotions by appeasement, reducing her hyperventilation symptoms."

Sounds simple enough when you say it like that, doc.

You'd have to imagine that this is the first Avengers: Endgame related case that he has had. Will it be the last, though? Let's just hope and pray that it is.

Eventually, the patient managed to recover and was sent home safely later on that day.

So, there you have it. If you're planning to get away to watch Marvel's pièce de résistance, just bear in mind that it is going to be emotional, you're going to experience some feels.

Try to catch a hold of yourself if you feel like you're breathing heavily. Perhaps bring along a paper bag or something?

Don't become just another victim of Thanos' evil.
