The pics actually belonged to a Turkish model

A woman who was catfished with a picture of a male model managed to get in a relationship with the actual model, after she discovered she had been duped.

Emma Perrier met a man called Ronaldo 'Ronnie' Scicluna, whose profile claimed he was a 34-year-old Italian electrician, through dating app Zoosk back in 2015.

Although the two struck up a relationship online, after six months the two had yet to meet in real life - so she decided to do a reverse image search on his pictures, only to discover that he wasn't who he said he was.

The pics actually belonged to Turkish model called Adem Guzel, while Ronnie was really a man called Alan Stanley, a 53-year-old shop decorator from the Midlands.

However that wasn't the end of the story - in September last year, having found Adam's social media account, Emma messaged him and the two of them ended up chatting. "I'm a romantic," she explained to The Atlantic. "I love to love, and I want to be loved too."

The two are now in a relationship and Alan Stanley isn't having the worst time either. He's currently going out with a woman 'younger than Emma'.

Speaking to The Atlantic about why he invented 'Ronnie', Alan said he had suffered a traumatic period after being described by his local newspaper as a 'love rat'. "These last few months have been beyond stressful," he said. "I don't think I've slept properly for three or four months now."

Ultimately, he explained, he was lonely. "I wasn't feeling the most attractive of people. You know, I always struggled with self-confidence... I was going through a messy separation and I was just feeling like I needed somebody to talk to," he said.

But things seem to have worked out ok. Emma is now happy with her new beau - "He's lovely," she said. "He's a lovely man."

So how does Alan feel about the outcome? "I think it's brilliant Emma and Adem have met," he concluded. "It's almost like fate."

In a weird sort of way, I suppose this must be what people mean by 'they all lived happily ever after'.
