Nun absolutely decks climate protestor who tried to prevent a new church from being built

She tackled him like she was preparing for the Rugby World Cup.

A French nun has been seen putting her body on the line to prevent a climate protestor from continuing a demonstration.

The incredible moment erupted on the construction site of a large Catholic centre in Saint-Pierre-de-Colombier in Ardèche.

According to GB News, the location has seen fierce debate between religious officials and climate change activists.

The outlet claims the environmentalists are worried about the impact the new church will have on the surroundings.

As a result, they've decided to protest the construction of a chapel and residential centre by the Famille Missionnaire de Notre-Dame (Missionary Family of Our Lady).

But things certainly escalated this week as one protestor was seen carrying plastic tubes and was running away when a nun absolutely decked him.

People couldn't believe the footage and many said the nun could help France at the next Rugby World Cup.

One said: "This is not ordinary power, she could be the well-talked-about superwoman that was promised to come."

Another added: "French Rugby National team, make a note of this."

A third wrote: "Don’t mess with the lord’s work."

Excavation work was due to begin until demonstrators showed up and tried to halt the work.

Some of the other protestors were seen smashing the tubes in an attempt to delay the construction.

Nuns had to reportedly step in and form a human chain around one of the diggers because activists tried to tie themselves to the machinery.

Sylvain Hérenguel, co-chairman of the local protest association, told French channel 3 that he was shocked at how intensely the religious group fought back.

“I didn’t expect that,” he said.

“I expected the nuns to show a bit more respect for public order."

He added: “I was roughed up three times by five people who tore at my clothes and tried to kick me out. They decided to protect the site with their [violent] acts and their bodies."

The Times says the religious group has been stationed in the area since the 1940s.

There are 80 people in the missionary and they've been trying for years to build its pilgrim centre.

According to the outlet, there were around a dozen police officers overseeing the battle between the nuns and the activists.

The melee lasted for around an hour and a half until things settled back down.
