Have You Ever Wanted To Have Your Stag Do In Space?

Have You Ever Wanted To Have Your Stag Do In Space?

Your final night of freedom could be an experience out of this world...literally.

Just before a couple gets married, there's a tradition that's common across many Western countries. It's known by different names in different countries, with the UK and Ireland calling them stag and hen dos, the US has bachelor and bachelorette parties, and Australia and New Zealand have buck's and hen's parties.

Groups sometimes travel to an exotic or fun location, like Las Vegas, Prague or Bali, where copious amounts of alcohol is consumed, daft costumes are worn and there could be the occasional stripper.

But if you don't want to throw the same stag or hen do that's been done by everyone, there is an experience out there that is a bit different. Don't think how far north, south, east or west you'll have to go, cast your eyes up to the heavens and envisage a party with five of your best mates...in space.

Well, not technically in space but you'll be a hell of a lot closer than most people on Earth have travelled away from our planet's orbit. Last Night of Freedom has organised an experience for people with a bit of cash in their pocket.

Managing Director Matt Mavir told LADbible: "I think we've completed everything on Earth - the next frontier is space. We're always thinking of what could you theoretically do that would just be amazing.

"A couple of years ago we came up with taking a stag weekend to the North Pole, which went crazy. We got loads of interest out of that. So, we thought, with all the space stuff that you're hearing about these days, what about a stag weekend to space. And I think, short of the moon, you can't beat that."

Stag or hen do attendees will have to travel to Tucson, Arizona, where they're greeted by the team at World View, who will chuck you into a capsule that can hold six people and two crew. Matt added: "The capsule itself is attached to a helium balloon, which sounds precarious, but we're very much assured it is the way to do it."

The helium balloon will lift the capsule to an impressive height of 100,000 feet, which is just into the troposphere. For reference, a standard passenger plane will usually get to a height of anywhere between 36,000-39,000 feet.

But here's the best part, there's an open bar.

However, that could be a bit dangerous if you're not careful. According to the UK Civil Aviation Authority, the barometric pressure inside a standard passenger plane is lower than on solid ground. This decreased pressure will thin your blood and, combined with the usual dry air, can make you seem like you're more drunk.

So, imagine being nearly triple the height of a normal commercial flight.

Matt advises people getting inside the capsule to play it safe. He said: "I'd imagine that normal rules of etiquette apply. I think it's a waste of money if you're being sick in the toilet."

Despite being in the troposphere, there is also WIFI capabilities so you can snap, stream and post as much as you like. Once you reach the height of 100,000 feet, the capsule stays there for two hours, before the balloon is dislodged and you float back to Earth with a parachute.

It's not for those with a light bank account, with each seat costing $75,000 (£57,914).

Matt says they're still sorting out the finer details, but the programme should be up and running within the next six months.
