Little Girl Says Goodbye To Dog Moments Before It's Put Down

Because dogs are far more than just pets.

Heartbreaking pictures have emerged showing a little girl spending the last moments with her pet dog who has been by her side since she was born.

Lynn Bakker, a young girl from Den Helder in Holland, had spent a lot of time with her bulldog Jaden.

With tears in her eyes and her head touching his, the youngster can be seen saying goodbye to her 13-year-old pooch, gently stroking his head, moments before he passed away.

Jaden was deaf, almost blind and unable to walk, and after Lynn's father Jeffrey took him to a vet, he was left with no choice but to have the pet put down.

Mr Bakker said: "Lynn could do everything with Jaden. He let her do anything - sit on him, put accessories on him - which led to some very funny photos.

"But sadly Jaden had become very old. He was 13-and-a-half and barely able to walk any more - we had to put him down.

"Lynn was devastated. We were all very sad to see him go and we miss him terribly.

"But this is life and sadly we lose the people we love. It was important for Lynn to understand that and have a chance to say goodbye.

"Lynn was very sad at first but now there are no more tears and she talks about him with happy memories and we hope that's how she will always remember him."

The dog was put to sleep earlier this month, one day after Lynn's birthday.

Before Jaden's death, Mr Bakker had captured moments from his daughter's friendship with their pet in a series of images that had gone viral on the Internet.

The photos were quickly shared on social media and it wasn't long before that the pair appeared in newspapers and magazines as their unique bond touched the hearts of readers around the world.

Mr Bakker said: "I wanted to document Jaden and Lynn together because Jaden was very old and I didn't know how much longer he had to live."

Have a good one in doggy heaven!
