Police And Public Form Human Chain As Westminster Falls Silent To Remember London Attack Victims

RIP to all those who died.

Exactly a week on from the terror attack that claimed four victims, Westminster fell silent in memory of those who tragically lost their lives.

Police officers joined hands with members of the public to form chains along the pavements of Westminster Bridge, the iconic London landmark where the attack took place.

In between them, 500 faith leaders then walked across the bridge, paying their respects and showing that they would not be defeated by terrorism.

The Metropolitan Police Federation said the linking of hands showed that 'we will not be divided. Linking all nations, faiths, orientation and sexes'.

A minute's silence was then held at 2.40pm, the time that the 82-second rampage took place.

American Kurt Cochran, 54, retired window cleaner Leslie Rhodes, 75, and Aysha Frade, 44, died after Khalil Masood drove at pedestrians on the bridge last Wednesday.

The 52-year-old was then shot dead after stabbing PC Keith Palmer just inside the railings at Parliament. The policeman has been remembered as a husband and a father who died in the line of duty after 15 years' service.

The show of respect comes after a human chain was formed across Westminster Bridge on Sunday, as women came together to show solidarity and condemn the attack.

Many of the women there were Muslim and wore blue as a symbol of hope and peace.

An inquest into Masood's death will be opened at Westminster Coroner's Court on Thursday.

Despite being claimed by ISIS, Scotland Yard have said there is 'no evidence' Masood was linked to Al-Qaida or the so-called Islamic State, but the Muslim convert 'clearly' had an interest in jihad.

Twelve people are still being treated in hospitals across London following the attack.

RIP to all who lost their lives.
