If you're into movies ritual suicide, feudal politics and a whole host of people getting cut the fuck up, then I've got some good news for you: one of the best samurai films of all time is coming to Netflix.

Released back in 2011 - a remake of the eponymous 1963 black-and-white Japanese film by Eiichi Kudo - 13 Assassins is commonly regarded as one of the best modern samurai flicks.

Without giving too much away, the plot sees a group of... well, yes, 13 assassins plotting to assassinate the ruthless leader of the Akashi clan, Lord Matsudaira Naritsugu, before his appointment to the powerful Shogunate Council.

Of course the film wouldn't be considered a classic without some awesome swordfighting scenes.

It ends with a 45-minute action scene which - in my opinion - is a contender for GOAT.

Rotten Tomatoes reports a 96% approval rating, based on 120 surveyed critics, concluding: "Takashi Miike's electric remake of Eiichi Kudo's 1963 period action film is a wild spectacle executed with killer, dizzying panache."

Here's how fans on Twitter reacted to the news....

Honestly, LADs, If you like samurai films, you won't find much better than 13 Assassins. Head to Netflix at your earliest opportunity.
