A high-school student in Arizona, USA who filmed a version of La La Land's 'Another Day of Sun' opener and asked Emma Stone to accompany him to prom, has received a response from the Oscar-winning actress.

He recruited friends to help him film his take on the song in his school's car park.

The viral 'promposal' from a high school student received thousands of shares on social media sites and even saw him appear on a number of American TV shows.

Jacob Staudenmaier, 17, read Stone's response to him on Good Morning America.

"JACOB, thanks for making the greatest proposal I've ever received," read Stone's letter.

"I can't tell you what an honor that was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video.

"I'm in London working, but I hope you have the best time at prom, and I'm grateful you thought of me. THANK YOU. P.S. I do see Gosling around the eyes. Love, Emma."

Staudenmaier has been told by friends that he resembles Ryan Gosling and told Good Morning America's hosts that he has seen La La Land three times and appreciated watching Stone 'killing it' in the film.

His stunt was inspired by a former student from his high school who asked Miley Cyrus to prom a few years back. "Being an aspiring filmmaker I knew I had to be big and ambitious with it," he said of the promposal.

This year Emma Stone won the Best Actress Oscar for her role playing Mia in La La Land. In the movie she plays an aspiring actress, desperate to make it in the industry.
