David hailed the fifteen-year-old as 'world class', despite having previously rejected Kyle when he auditioned for the show three years earlier.

After the song, David said: "I am so proud of you. That was an astonishing performance, utterly brilliant. I've got tears in my eyes."

Alesha Dixon said: "Amazing comeback. That was so much stronger than your audition, which I loved. It was from the heart, it was genuine."

Simon Cowell said: "I'm going to be honest with you, I wasn't sure what to expect from you tonight. You absolutely amazed me."

Amanda Holden added: "Adele is a huge person to follow and I bet if she's watching she'd think that's an amazing performance."

It came after the show was rocked by 'cheat' claims, following a technical difficulty.

St Patrick's Junior Choir Drumgreenagh were the first on stage in tonight's semi-final but a technical problem meant that they were out of time with the backing track.

The 36-strong group of kids had previously sung 'Somewhere Only We Know' by Keane in the audition, but Ant and Dec looked worried and called a stop to the performance after the school choir of eight to 12-year-olds didn't start singing live on ITV.

Viewers were shocked to 'hear voices' on the pre-recorded track during the beginning of the song, leading them to question whether the act had been 'miming'.

Viewers took to Twitter to ask if the choir were 'miming' during their performance.

One viewer said: "Are they miming after "that" techical error?????!! #BGT"

Another added: "Did they just give away that they're lipsyncing??? #BGT"

Responding to the situation live on air, Dec explained there were 'just a couple of technical issues'.
