The idea of being able to get a foot on the property ladder is a far-fetched, ridiculous dream to many. With house prices rising and rent soaring, it can be next to impossible for a huge portion of society (mostly millennials, sorry) to get enough cash together to save for a deposit.
Rather than storm Parliament and demand affordable housing, some people have decided to create their own unique houses and are showing off their handiwork in new Channel 4 show How to Live Mortgage Free, which is on Wednesday nights at 8pm.

One such person is Rick Hunt, an inventor, who managed to turn this double decker bus into a house for £20,000. Nicely done, Rick.
Rick and his wife, Amanda, who have two children, struggled to save a deposit for a house in Cambridge, where they live. So, they decided to use the money they had saved to convert a bus.

The couple, who bought the bus for £3,600, fitted it with a new kitchen, dining area, bathroom and an upper seating area for when the bus is moving. Because, yeah, it's still a fully functioning motor vehicle, apparently.
They also fitted the bus with a lift to the second floor, as Amanda has limited mobility after being involved in a sky-diving accident when she was younger.
Host Sarah Beeny was impressed by the family's plan. Telling Rick: "The plans for the bus sound genius. This is extremely ambitious given the budget, but if anyone will do it, I think it will be you."
Hats off to these two. This is pretty amazing:

It cost just £15,000 to renovate. To help keep costs even lower, the money-savvy couple have fitted the bus with solar panels and will be using bottled gas.
And, if your neighbours piss you off you can just drive off. Sounds good to me.
