There's banter and then there's just being a dickhead. And I'm just going to put it out there and say that this particular 'prank' firmly crosses that line.

Did our forefather's dream a world where dozens of people on the Internet would come together to collectively scare the shit out of their parents, all because it seemed a funny thing to do? Probably not. But there again it's 2017, and here we are, the human race, living on a giant rock, travelling at 666,000 miles around the sun, never knowing what the future holds: our forefather probably didn't dream of celebrity sex tapes, Dapper Laughs or a Donald Trump presidency either, maybe we should just embrace it.

"Text your mum that you're going to the hospital and when she asks why tell her every time you close your eyes you can't see," demanded one tweet.

And swiftly that demand was answered...
