It's each to their own in the perplexed world of dating. You might be a person into total monogamy, or maybe you like to play the field a little bit. Or perhaps you'd prefer more of an open relationship.

But how would you feel if your significant other made their money through dating?

Meet Sheen Hunter, a 29-year-old actress from Seattle who has earned over $53,000 (£40,000) by going on dates with strangers from around the world, despite having a boyfriend.

Sheen charges her clients, most of whom she meets on dating site What's Your Price, over £230 for the pleasure of her company and has attended over 100 dates in the past two years

"I have earned around £40,000 in total as I have enjoyed over 100 dates and have been given expensive gifts such as fur coats, gold jewellery, clothes as well as all my travel expenses," said Sheen.

She has dated both men and women from places including Saudi Arabia, England, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Russia.

There is a catch though - there's no sex involved. Sheen claims that she makes it quite clear to clients, be them male or female, that there will be no fornications during their time together.

We think that's pretty fair, considering she's got a loving boyfriend at home.

"I tend to go on less dates now I'm in a relationship with Michael but I still try and squeeze a few dates in each month.

"I love dating people for money, it's sociable and it pays the bills," said Sheen. "I have been to some amazing places, including New York, LA, San Francisco, Florida, Minnesota, Costa Rica, Mexico and Canada."

But despite her busy social life, boyfriend Michael Macdonald, 28, has no problem with her line of work.

"My current boyfriend doesn't mind that I go on dates with strangers as he knows I'm not looking for a new relationship.

"My current boyfriend says I know your process. I'm alright with it as it's basically just a job and a way to make friends. As long as you're safe and keep it the way you have, I'll support you."

Sheen said she would 'definitely recommend others trying it if they want to earn some extra cash' in a sociable way.

I don't know about you, but the fewer first dates I have to endure, the better. So I think I'll give that career path a miss...
