After describing his social media presence as 'modern day presidential' earlier in the week, Donald Trump has posted a bizarre video of himself 'beating up CNN' to Twitter.

The video is a repurposed clip of Trump beating up Vince McMahon in a WWE match in 2007.

The logo for CNN, which Trump has continually labelled a 'fake news' media outlet, has been edited to replace McMahon's head.

Trump's official White House account has also retweeted the video, which appeared on a 'Trump takes down fake news' Reddit thread on Wednesday.

On Thursday, White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders insisted that Trump 'in no way, form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence. If anything, quite the contrary'.

As you might expect, the video caused a bit of a stir after it was posted, with media outlets such as the Huffpost suggesting that the president appeared to be 'endorsing violence against journalists'.

But Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price subsequently defended the president, explaining that it was possible to tweet and also get legislation passed at the same time. He said: "The fact of the matter is he can do more than one thing at a time,"

Here's what people had to to say on social media....

CNN are yet to respond to the tweet, who knows maybe they will Photoshop themselves and Trump onto Dudley Boys putting someone through a table.
