Soldiers in North Korea who shared a joke about leader Kim Jong-un, comparing him to a child, have been arrested and will face 'severe punishments'.

A number of officers and soldiers have been arrested after mocking the dictator, and are currently being investigated, a source told Radio Free Asia.

They said: "News of cadres of the second army corps slandering Kim Jong-un reached all the way to the People's Army's General Political Bureau, and the arrested cadres are to be severely punished."

According to UPI, the joke 'compared Kim Jong-un to a kindergartner', while other soldiers are reported to have referred to the Kim as a mental patient.

Soldiers have also been reported as saying that Kim is more outrageous than his dad Kim Jong-il and his grandfather Kim Il-sung, earning him the nickname 'Kim squared'.

Earlier this week, Kim threatened nuclear action during the Day of the Sun parades. He said in a televised broadcast: "If the United States wages reckless provocation against us, our revolutionary power will instantly counter with annihilating strike, and we will respond to full-out war with full-out war and to nuclear war with our style of nuclear strike warfare."

Choe Ryong-hae, who is believed to be the country's second most powerful official, said: "We're prepared to respond to an all-out war with an all-out war.

"We are ready to hit back with nuclear attacks of our own style against any nuclear attacks."

It's believed that North Korea are gearing up for its sixth nuclear test since 2006, and US President Donald Trump is concerned. Trump has taken to Twitter to say North Korea is 'looking for trouble'. As well as adding that if China didn't 'properly deal with North Korea' the US would.

China, meanwhile, is more worried about the fact that a 'thermo nuclear war' could break out between the US and North Korea 'any moment'.

The BBC reported that Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, said: "Lately, tensions have risen between on the one hand the United States and the Republic of Korea [South Korea] and on the other, the DPRK [North Korea] and one has the feeling that a conflict could break out at any moment.

"I think that all relevant parties should be highly vigilant with regards to this situation.

"We call on all parties to refrain from provoking and threatening each other, whether in words or actions, and not let the situation get to an irreversible and unmanageable stage."
