Android Phones Say Goodbye To Headphone Jacks

Android Phones Say Goodbye To Headphone Jacks

Seems like the trend.

Hot on the heels of Apple declaring that the iPhone 7 won't have a headphone jack back in September 2016, Android phones are doing the same too. HTC is going to unveil its latest flagship phone tomorrow and rumour has it that it's got no headphone jack.

Hello my old friend. Credit: Apple

That's right - the end is nigh for headphones with wires. Will this be the year we have to embrace wireless headphones?

Here's reportedly some leaked pictures that show the new 'Ocean Note', as it's been nicknamed. It's got rid of the aluminium and gone for glass instead - looks to be a bit of a trend in 2017.

As you can see, it's going to have a 5.7-inch screen, Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and Android 7.0 Nougat... but no headphone jack.

This is the second phone from HTC with no headphone jack - looks like we're going to have to accept it guys. Late last year the company introduced 'The Bolt' which didn't have a jack, either.

And it looks like the other Android phones will be following suit, sharpish. Headphones with wires aren't cool anymore it seems.

Rumour has it that Samsung is going to kill the jack on the Galaxy S8 in April, while Motorola (still going???) and LeEco have already gotten rid of it.

It's the end of an era! All those hours wasted, untangling our headphones because they'd managed to tie themselves in knots, buying new ones because the wires frayed... was that all for nothing?!?

RIP Headphone Jack. The first victim of 2017.
