Nice one, Nokia.

The festive season is coming up. If you're anything like me, you'll already have spent most of your November pay check getting seshed at the German markets, with buying all the gifts looking like a bit of stretch. But don't worry, there could well be a Christmas miracle knocking around in your drawers and cupboards.

Apparently we've been using them for so long that some older mobile phones are now deemed to be 'classics' or even 'antiques', meaning they are selling for hundreds at online auction sites.

Mobile phone expert Ben Wood, from CCS Insight, who has a collection of nearly 1,000 mobile phones from the last 30 years, told Wales Online: "We all remember our first mobile phones, whether it was the iconic brick-sized Motorola DynaTAC used by Gordon Gekko in Wall Street, a Samsung that flipped open, or the Noughties manufacturer of choice, Nokia.

"It's now over 30 years since the first mobile phone became commercially available and a whole generation of people have owned a host of different handsets over the years.

"Finding an old handset in the back of a drawer can be an evocative experience: people tend to remember the phone they had during significant periods in their lives, such as a certain job or a particularly memorable holiday. It's interesting that a piece of technology can induce sentimental feelings in many people."

To give a few examples, Nokia 3310s can now reach between £10-£55 depending on their condition, the Motorola V3 Dolce & Gabbana is worth even more at £150, and a 1981 Nokia Mobira Talkman can fetch close to a grand.

The best bet for anybody with an old handset is to have a look on auction websites.
