LAD Serenades Woman With A Proclaimers Song During ‘First Dates’

LAD Serenades Woman With A Proclaimers Song During ‘First Dates’

Not the worst way to woo your Scottish blind date.

Going on a blind first date with someone can be an awkward experience. You never know what's going to happen: will there be fireworks or will the date sink faster than a lead balloon? It appears, however, that if you want to get brownie points, all you need to do is belt out a classic song from your date's home country.

That's what David did to impress Jenni on Channel Four's First Dates, after hearing she was Scottish and revealing his dad is from Glasgow.

But what song would you sing if you were looking for a classic Scottish song? Look no further than The Proclaimers' 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)', of course.

To be fair, you're always going to be asked to belt out a tune when you profess to love singing. It's just that most people would do it away from an entire restaurant of prying eyes. But David stood up to the plate like an absolute champion and nailed it.

He even gets the waitress to help with the beat.

The gesture was a hit with people on social media.

While they both agreed to a second date, we're yet to see whether their bond has been cemented by any other classic bangers.

While Jenni and David were loved by viewers, others were particularly pissed off at one gentleman. John couldn't seem to stop giggling while Sherry was explaining her life as a dominatrix. She was constantly interrupted by his laughing and during a quick bathroom break call to a friend, she labelled him 'disrespectful' and 'arrogant'.

She wasn't alone.

Sherry was even more graceful when she was asked if she'd like to see John again, saying: "I had a lovely lunch, I think we had a nice time. I didn't feel a spark between us."

Good on you. I'm sure other people would have had a few more choice words ready to use in that situation.
