Charles Bronson Proposed To His Beau With Frank Sinatra To Show His Soft Side

CharmingLAD!

Charles Bronson - a bloke known for doing it his own way. Whether it's robbing jewellery stores, beating people up, generally being a reprobate, or getting married to an Emmerdale extra, the man is certainly a character.

He got engaged to Paula Williamson yesterday, the sweet lad, but it does leave a few questions? How the hell did they both meet? Did he slide into her DMs? How did he propose?

Well, according to The Sun, the notorious jailbird sang a bit of Frank Sinatra down the phone to her - 'My Way'.

He also sent her a diamond ring from HM Prison Wakefield (probably loaded after movie royalties) and brought the proposal plan forward so he could ask her in person when she came to visit him.

He also made amendments to the classic hit from the Rat Pack legend, singing 'Regrets, we have none', and also added these lines:

"And now the start is here, and so we face our life together.

"My Paula, I'll say it clear, I'll spend my life of which I'm certain.

"We've lived a crazy life and travelled in and out of darkness.

"But more, much more than this we did it our way."

He added: "We planned this lovely day and I saved up for a diamond ring.

"But more, much more than this, this is our day."

You can hear the video of him singing here, obtained by the Mirror.

Williamson, 36, who has been a bit-part extra in Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, is besotted by 64-year-old 'Charlie', stating:

"I've had relationships with both men and women in the past but none of them come close to my love for Charlie.

"He's so eccentric, but so am I. It's a perfect match.

"I know he has a public image of being a violent prisoner, but in reality he is so different.

"He has done a lot of artwork for me and I really treasure each and every one."

The pair have been dating for around five months in the whirlwind romance.

Who is Charles Bronson?

Born Michael Gordon Peterson in Luton, UK, in 1952, Bronson is a former jewel thief who has been serving a much longer jail sentence than initially anticipated because of his violent behaviour in prison.

He was arrested aged just 23, but has spent 41 years behind bars, 37 of which have been in solitary confinement.

He was released momentarily after spending seven years in jail after being sent down for armed robbery in 1974, briefly starting a career in bare-knuckle boxing when his promoter decided Charles Bronson had a more marketable and menacing ring to it, the same as the renowned Amercian actor.

He was given life imprisonment after a spate of hostage situations in prison after yet again going to jail for theft. Of himself, he has stated: "I'm a nice guy, but sometimes I lose all my senses and become nasty. That doesn't make me evil, just confused."

He has spent time in Rampton, Broadmoor and Ashworth prisons among others, and has been married twice before, first to a lady called Irene, while he was known as Michael Petersen, and then in 2001 he betrothed Fatema Saira Rehman after they met 10 times. He converted to Islam and they were married for four years.

He has written fitness books and had a film dedicated to him, starring Tom Hardy.

He's also an award-winning artist, changing his name to Charles Salvador back in 2014 in homage to Spanish surrealist Salvador Dali, setting up the Charles Salvador Art Foundation, promoting artwork for the underprivileged.

And for all of you who want a bit of a sing-along in the office this afternoon, knock yourselves out.

And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain

I've lived a life that's full
I've traveled each and every highway
But more, much more than this
I did it my way

Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption

I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it my way

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill my share of losing
And now, as tears subside
I find it all so amusing

To think I did all that
And may I say - not in a shy way
Oh no, oh no, not me
I did it my way

For what is a man, what has he got
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way

Yes, it was my way.
