Luckily he was reunited with them and they managed to get home safe and sound.

When you're preparing to fly anywhere outside of your country, you should always do the triple pat check: wallet, phone and passport. At least with those three essentials you can handle most emergencies that come your way as long as it's nothing too serious.

However, one LAD was missing one of those vital pieces when holidaying in Croatia for the Sonus Festival. Despite the event featuring the likes of The Martinez Brothers and Jamie Jones, Joel Scott's enjoyment came crashing down when he returned to his hostel, only to find that his mates were gone.

Joel apparently approached a bunch of girls, also attending the festival, and asked for their help. Rea Branch has told the Bristol Post: "He just approached us and asked if we were English, and told us his situation. He got to the hostel to find his mates had gone, and he thinks they've taken his bags and his passport. He's stuck here now, it seems.

"We're actually staying in a different part of this area, and he's not got his ticket and not got his passport and he doesn't know what to do - he just came up to us at the festival," she added.

"His friends have left him stranded. We want to help him because he's only 19 and we're 19 and it's really hard for him because he doesn't know what to do."

Rea posted a photo to Twitter, saying: "How are we lumbered with some random geezer from Bristol who's missed two flights and all his friends have abandoned him?"

The Bristol Post passed on Joel's number to the British Embassy, but luckily for the teenager, he finally linked up with his friends. The group of girls helped him get to the airport where they had apparently been waiting.

There's no information on why the hell they had set off from the hostel, with his passport, but at least he's safe and sound now.

If you lose your passport while you're overseas, there are a few things you can do to help you out of the sticky situation.

Firstly, head to a police station to report it stolen - that way they can be on the lookout for it if it someone else tries to use it at an airport or it gets handed in. Then head to the embassy for an emergency document if you're flying out in a few days.

If it gets damaged or passes its expiry date while you're overseas, head to the embassy to get a temporary replacement one.
