Come And Have A Look Inside Britain's Biggest Ever Warship

This is amazing.

Britain's biggest ever warship begins its first ever sea voyage today, and be under no illusions, it's fucking massive.

The HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier is so big it's going to struggle to even get out to sea - having a gap of just 30cm on either side of the entrance to the dock as it leaves its basin in Rosyth, Fife.

The warship weighs an almost unbelievable 65,000 tonnes and cost £3.1billion, and took almost 10 years to build.

It's armed with mini-guns, 30mm guns and a close-in weapons system, as well state-of-the-art radar and a massive hangar with room for a fleet of F-35B fighter jets and helicopters.

The HMS Queen Elizabeth is 920ft long, with nine decks. I mean, check it:

The ship is so huge, that is has room for a crew of 1,000 and 40 aircraft. FORTY.

Today's test voyage will give crew a chance to assess how the ship handles the sea, as it makes its way around the coast before docking near Kirkcaldy for a few days.

It will then head north to the Moray Firth where it will begin its first six week sea trial.

Commanding officer Captain Jerry Kydd told the BBC: "I think there are very few capabilities, by any country, that are as symbolic as a carrier strike capability.

"Submarines you can't see, but these are very visible symbols of power and power projection." You can say that again.

It's the most powerful ship ever built for the Royal Navy and offers onboard facilities including a dentist, chemist, police station, and a fully-staffed kitchen.

Impressive.
