Cards Against Humanity Has An Interesting Antidote To Black Friday Sales

Cards Against Humanity Has An Interesting Antidote To Black Friday Sales

I expect nothing less from this company.

In case you didn't know, every year around this time, the wonderfully offensive game Cards Against Humanity starts a campaign to protest against Black Friday, raise some funds and basically test the intelligence of its fans.

A couple of years back it raised $180,000 by selling boxes of shit for $6 a pop. All 30,000 of them sold out within hours and then people were actually surprised when they got sent a box of shit through the post. They followed this up with last year's offering of 'absolutely nothing' for $5. It managed to pull in $71,145 with the stunt. What is wrong with people?

Anyway, this year, the 'party game for horrible people' creators are asking for donations to dig a big hole. Just a massive hole that doesn't lead anywhere and doesn't serve a purpose.

You can donate as much or as little as you want, with recommended donations starting at $5. As long as the money keeps rolling in, they will keep digging. For each contribution you get three seconds of digging time. At the time of writing this there was just over 25 hours to go of 'dig time' and the donations were flying in.

The 'interesting' project has come in for a fair bit of stick online with a bunch of people saying the company should donate the funds to charity. However, in the past the company behind Cards Against Humanity has donated nearly $4 million to good causes since 2012, according to the Huffington Post. They gave last year's proceeds from selling nothing to the staff, many of whom then went on to donate that to charity, too. So there.

If you're interested in seeing your money go into a futile project there is also a live-feed of the digger in action. The total raised so far (again, at the time of writing) is $77,776. There are three donations of over $1000, which leaves me at a loss for words.
