Stormzy Woke Up To Find Police Kicking His Door Down

Oh shit!

Grime artist Stormzy has said that the Metropolitan Police broke down his door in the middle of the night because they thought he was burgling his own home.

He came home from the Elle Style Awards, dressed to the nines in a H&M suit, after a long hard day of schmoozing on the red carpet

And his plush Chelsea home had it's door kicked in.

Understandably, you'd be a bit upset if that happened to you. Metropolitan Police hasn't commented on it yet - but Stormzy wants them to pick up the bill.

Good luck with that, mate.

Earlier, while he was on the red carpet with "his Mrs" Maya Jama, a MTV presenter, he was talking about how he'd never been to a fashion or magazine event before.

"It's all a bit mad innit ...a bit mad?" he said to Elle magazine, with no clue that it was about to get madder.

Meanwhile, Maya revealed that the Shut Up star had a softer side. She and Stormzy are big fans of Deliveroo and spend a lot of their time ordering in, snuggling and watching tv. He dedicated his track Birthday Girl to her and she starred in the video.

Shut up! I mean, aw that sound nice.

Their plans for Valentine's Day are very romantic - and low key. "We're going to have a quiet one, at home.. take-away, Netflix, a little wine, calm off," said Maya.

And organise someone to come round and fix that door!

Grime's Hottest Act

Shut Up was the first freestyle to reach the charts. It was originally released online - first on YouTube and then as an official track in December 2015 after it reached 17 million views. It reached number eight in the charts.

Stormzy won Best Grime Act at the MOBO awards in 2014. He was the first unsigned rapper to perform on Later with Jools Holland later that month.

He was even invited to the Oxford Guild at Oxford University to do an intense Q & A session with 300 students. He talked about The Brits, sexism in grime - and his mum! Aw. That's pretty good for someone who got expelled from school.

The twenty-three-year old is a self-described "child of grime" influenced by grime artists like Wiley and Skepta, but also Frank Ocean and Lauryn Hill.

And his just hyped debut album Gang Signs & Prayer is released on the 24th of February 2017.
