The Internet Can't Work Out If This Woman Is Real Or Just A Cartoon

The Internet Can't Work Out If This Woman Is Real Or Just A Cartoon

What do you reckon?

So here we are. I've now reached the point in life that I'm willing to admit I fancy a cartoon.

I've heard others admit to it in the past, but personally Jessica Rabbit never did it for me and I've always found the anime pop-ups on porn sites distracting.

This girl though, this girl is different. In fact, her Instagram account is sending users into a frenzy as they can't decide if its star is a real person or not.

Miquela, as she calls herself, has yet to address speculation over her identity, but she follows Willow Smith, Sarah Snyder, Lily-Rose Depp, Hailey Baldwin, Khloe Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Rihanna and Ariana Grande on Instagram - so I'm guessing for that reason, and the pictures, she's one of those people who makes an effort to be cool.

Her Instagram has over 65k followers and also links through to 'Planned Parenthood Action Fund', which provides reproductive health services both in the United States and globally.

A recent Dazed and Confused article about her said that: "Lil Miquela forces us to face ideas about authenticity, existence and perfection online." Whatever that means.

The piece continues: "The thing about an Instagram Girl is, she probably won't ever exist outside of your phone. It becomes quickly clear that Lil Miquela is what Lil Uzi Vert might call a 'fantasy on my phone', not quite too good to be true but somewhere beyond just a filter.

"Miquela is one that satisfies more completely and wholly the desire you'd have for an Instagram Girl - because she can't live beyond projection. You get every part of her on your screen and can just as easily erase her by scrolling up."

So basically she's probably just been created by some artist making a point about capitalism, fashion, our fetishisation of wealth and beauty, and the Internet.

But maybe, just maybe, she's the real life girl of my dreams.

Not being one to beat about the bush, I decided to send her a Tweet to get a 'confirm/deny' once and for all.

I'm yet to get a reply.

What do you reckon - real or fake, human or cartoon?
