A man who got stuck behind a cash machine whilst trying to fix a faulty door was only rescued after he slid 'help me' notes through the ATM's receipt slot.
The contractor had been called to a closed branch of Bank of America to fix the lock on a door connected to the room behind the ATM.
He wound up locked inside - having left his phone in his truck, he had to resort to desperate measures to get out.

Corpus Christi Police Officer Richard Olden told WTOC: "He can't get out. He can't call anybody because his phone is in his truck."

Olden said that some people thought it was a joke, but eventually somebody took it seriously and called police.

A number of the officers thought it was a joke too, upon their arrival at the scene, but they quickly learned the truth and threw themselves into the rescue operation.
"Sure enough, we can hear a little voice coming from the machine," Olden said.

Police had to kick down a door to get the man out of the ATM room: at the time of his rescue, he had been trapped in there for two hours.
"You'll never see this again in your life that somebody's stuck in the ATM machine. It was just crazy," Olden added.
