Mum Films Toddler Screaming At His 'Lifeless' Aunt In Terrifying Internet Stunt

Absolutely ridiculous.

This is the most morbid internet trend ever - in South Africa, the #DeadPose trend has swept across the nation and it only started a week ago! It's a fairly macabre start to the year; people in South Africa get their friends to take photos while they pretend to be dead and post it on social media. Hi-fucking-larius!

It all came to a head when Bontle Goitsimang shared a video of her two year old screaming as her sister lay on the stairs, pretending to be lifeless. The 20 second clip has upset people and, among other titles, Bontle has been called "heartless" and "Satanic".

Satanic is going a bit far, but it's a weird thing to do to your own baby girl. Take a look here.

"My baby was in on the joke," Bontle Goitsimang insisted. "She knew what was going on, she realised it was a joke, I think she is laughing more than crying. I was filming it, it was my sister on the floor, it was all planned. It was just a joke, a very quick joke. It is only fun, a small funny thing."

Is it funny, though? The poor toddler is clearly crying not laughing. Also, not too sure that a two-year-old can be in on an Internet joke about pretending to be dead. Two-year-olds can barely string a sentence together.

Karabo Mnisi, the teenage mastermind behind the campaign, isn't worried about the backlash.

He told The Daily Mail that DeadPose is "no different from the ice bucket challenge."

Except of course the Ice Bucket Challenge was to raise money for ALS and Karabo just wants to be the most famous South African "felebrity" - that's a Facebook celebrity by the way. He has warned until he gets 40,000 Facebook followers, the goriness of the pictures is only going to get worse.

And it looks like he's right. At first the pictures people were taking were just of lifeless bodies strewn on the ground - now people are upping the ante, throwing red paint everywhere and faking their own insides coming out of their bodies. It's gone from someone lying on the floor with their eyes closed to well thought out scenes of gore.

Karabo said that he was inspired by te famous death of 13 year old Hector Pieterson who was killed in the famous Soweto Uprising of 1976 which was a turning point for apartheid. His parents aren't amused - and neither are a lot of people who say that South Africa has a problem with violence and these kind of stunts don't help the situation.

What do you think? Is it a cool and innovative way to get famous, or a stupid thing to do?
