Farmer Removes Abandoned Audi From His Field With His Own Vehicle

Farmer Removes Abandoned Audi From His Field With His Own Vehicle

After a farmer discovered an abandoned vehicle in his field, he took matters into his own hands and disposed of it himself.

What would you do if you found an abandoned car in your field? Call the police and try to find the owner? Leave it there in the hope that nature would eventually reclaim it? Try to fix it? Spruce it up and turn it into a feature? Or have fun smashing it up with whatever you could find to smash it up with?

Well, one farmer discovered an Audi A4 that had presumably been run off the road and then abandoned by the driver in land that contained livestock. Who knows why - maybe it was stolen, or maybe the driver was just super embarrassed about his lack of skills.

Either way, the farmer didn't want to turn it into a feature for his animals. Instead, he wasted no time in using a piece of farming machinery that looks a bit like a tractor to literally fling the vehicle out of his field in Ampthill, Bedfordshire on Sunday morning.

For some reason, traffic cops were there and tweeted pictures of the silver car being hoisted into the air.

They wrote: "If you are going to crash into a farmers field with livestock and cause damage then run from the scene over night leaving the field insecure do not expect your vehicle to be recovered with too much care! Enquiries on-going to trace driver."

One Twitter user commented: "I'd say it's written off already, but I would certainly enjoy playing with it with that tractor and forklift."

"Still, he's been good and not shoved the fork lift prongs through the windows," another said, adding: "An Audi. What a shock."

Another person even said: "I've done this before, with police permission, just couldn't stop laughing. The car was totalled by the time I was done. No livestock hurt before, during or after the event. Got £50 scrappage for my troubles. Good day had by all, except for the twat who'd done a runner."

Many others also took the opportunity to take a stab at Audi drivers, with someone writing: "It's an Audi driver, I'll save you time on the investigation. They didn't use their indicators."

Someone else also wrote: "Audi driver? Shock horror."

Who knows if the driver will ever come forward and admit to crashing the car, but we somehow doubt it. So fair play to the farmer for getting rid of it.

However, it might have been a bit more polite to find out if the car had been stolen first - because it's hardly the owner's fault if it had been. Oh well, what's done is done...
