A God of War film is reportedly under consideration thanks to a potential director pitching ideas to Sony bosses earlier this year.
Unfortunately, the movie isn't confirmed and no one's sure if Sony's on board, but that doesn't mean fans can't get excited, especially when we might have a potential Kratos on our hands.
Steven DeKnight, said director who put himself and the story forward, has revealed who he'd like to star in the film - the one and only Dave Bautista, AKA Batista, the famous ex-wrestler who's taking Hollywood by storm.
To be honest, we can't think of anyone better; Bautista in renown for portraying absolute meat heads who are hell bent on revenge and destruction, and love beating up one or two people along the way. In short, his CV is nothing less than impressive.
Take Drax the Destroyer, for example: everyone's favourite blue brute from the Marvel universe, most recently featured in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War, is an outcast, family orientated, and powerful as hell. Sound familiar?
Here's what the director said:
Immediately for me: Dave Bautista would be the man. I think he can do anything. You can do drama, real emotion, humour, action. What would I like to see from a movie like that? A bit of a tricky question because there hasn't really been 100% success of translating a video game to a movie. It's a very, very tricky process.
As noted by DeKnight, the relationship between fans, gaming, and cinema isn't the best, and that's mainly down to a number of big screen adaptations that weren't able to follow up on the legacy classic video games created.
It's a shame, too, because there's an abundance of game series that'd be fantastic in cinema, as long as they had the right people working on/starring in the project - just look at what happened to Hitman; so much potential, disappointing final product(s).
Thankfully, Netflix seem to have found the right man in Henry Cavill, who's set to play Geralt of Rivia in the highly anticipated Witcher TV series. Yeah, we know his characters kinda' looks a little like Legolas and Daenerys Targaryen's love child, but we've got faith. He is (was) Superman, after all.
Anyway, whoever manages to bag the role of Sony's blood-thirsty god of war, Kratos, has some pretty big shoes to fill. We reckon Bautista is a size 11, at least? If you can think of anyone better suited for the role, let us know.
Also, tell us what you think about the film idea, and which other games you'd like to see in cinema.
