Microsoft's brand-new studio, The Initiative, has got the ground running by bringing a number of highly experienced workers on board - starting with ex-Sony employees.
For some reason, the LinkedIn announcement of the new team, from Initiative studio head Darrell Gallagher, was deleted. Not before someone could screenshot it, however.
The list includes God of War's lead producer Brian Westergaard (Sony Santa Monica), Annie Lohr (Riot, EA, Respawn), Christian Cantamessa (Rockstar), Blake Fischer (Microsoft) Daniel Neuburger (Crystal Dynamics), and Lindsey McQueeney (Crystal Dynamics).
What makes the post deletion even stranger is the fact that most on this list have updated their own LinkedIn profiles with the new job, with only Cantamessa and Fischer left to do so.
Microsoft has been busy building this studio so they can start working on more first-party titles - as Sony are currently dominating that field - and it will be interesting to see what Xbox exclusives come off the back of it. A new Fable, perhaps?
They also now own PlayGround Games (Forza Horizon), Undead Labs (State of Decay), Compulsion Games (We Happy Few), and Ninja Theory (Hellblade) for the same reason, so maybe PS4 players won't have the bragging rights for much longer.
What do you think? Is this is a step in the right direction for Xbox? Or will Sony always be king of exclusives? Let us know.
