Geralt's voice actor, Doug Cockle, has shared his desire for the next Witcher game to be all about Ciri, rather than his fan favourite character.
In an interview with Gamereactor, the star of the franchise spoke about his cameo in SoulCalibur VI, and how it could be his very last appearance as the silver haired monster hunter.
When asked if it would be his final performance, Cockle said: If you're leading into The Witcher 4, I can only say I have no idea, although I think it will be.
"This is my own opinion, and [publisher] CD Projekt Red knows what they are doing, and I have no idea what the plan is, but... if I was CD Projekt Red, I would make The Witcher 4, but I would be focusing on Ciri."
This comes after the Witcher developers suggested Geralt wouldn't be a focal point after the trilogy had ended - but what exactly would happen in Ciri's spin-off?
Cockle recalls: "In The Witcher 3 she hints at visiting other worlds, and I think a game around her visiting those different worlds would be a cool Witcher 4."
What do you think? It sounds pretty exciting to say the least, but we'd hate to see Geralt go.
A new narrative lead is probably needed if the game wants to deliver a fresh experience on release, and the guys at CD Projekt Red have probably got everything planned out already; we just won't hear about it for some time as they are currently focusing on Cyberpunk 2077.
Let us know if you'd like to see him back for one more game, or if now is the time to move onto someone else.
