Microsoft opened it's E3 conference with a slew of new game announcements, chief among them Minecraft Dungeons. A new isometric dungeon crawler from Mojang, the developer of the original Minecraft.
We were only treated to a trailer for the new game but it looks like Minecraft Dungeons will bring the frenetic enemy smashing of Diablo and filter it through the world of Minecraft.
Minecraft Dungeons supports 4-player co-op, and sees you and a team of friends pushing through a dungeon full of classic and new Minecraft monsters. Picking up loot, finding better gear, and basically just punching the voxels out of your enemies.
You can see it in action in the trailer below:
It's been a long time since we saw a new game from Mojang and, while this is still a Minecraft game, it's great to see the talent at the studio isn't stuck only working on the one game. While this may only be the first trailer I'll be really keen to learn more as a a good action RPG with solid co-op is just what the Xbox needs.
With Blizzard hard at work on a new Diablo, mainly after the backlash from fans that it wasn't coming fast enough, the market is open for another big name game to come and swoop in and take that audience for itself.
Sure, Diablo fans may not want to trade in hell for colourful voxels, but they are getting desperate.
Minecraft Dungeons is also going to be released on day one through Xbox Game Pass, which is a nice little add on.Did you like what you saw of Minecraft Dungeons? Let us know on Facebook and Twitter. And, while you're at it, why not check out the GAMINGbible Snapchat?
